THIS IS PART 2 of 4 of a photo series.
Photos 6-10 of 20.
“FINAL PROJECT 2009”
So I told everyone I was working on a “FINAL PROJECT” for my media production class and I needed to take photos of them that illustrated who they are individually. BUT instead, these were their Christmas gifts. Haha. This came out siiiiiiiick, especially when they were framed.
6. “THIS JOURNEY”
This photo is of Kevin. We went to the railroad tracks in the back roads of Kapolei, right behind Costco. Absolutely SICK photo. Kevin is kind of at a place in life where he is trying to figure things out, such as his career and future, and I thought it would be perfect to get a shot near the railroad, kind of symbolizing the future and the journey of life. The lines created by the railroad tracks and the power lines really draw you to the center of the photo creating more of a “future” vibe. And the sun was real bright that day which created a real vivid background and a nice contrast to Kevin’s all black clothing. Not too mention, doesn’t he look cool with his shades and guitar? Haha perhaps modeling is in his future. And if not, he at least has a photo he can use for his album cover!
7. “CHILD AT HEART”
My cousin, Christine. Ever since I could remember she has been loud, hilarious, bubbly, and a lot of fun to be around. I titled this, “CHILD AT HEART” because in essence, that is who Christine is. Her personality shines, and is based on so much joy, love and appreciation of family and friends. The photo came out great, although it was pretty hard capturing the bubbles and the weather was overcast and windy. Still, this really is who Christine is, from the inside out. It would have been nice to have sun but I really like the fact she’s blowing bubbles in an open park in a field… something many children love to do. It’s important to remember the innocence and purity of being a kid and being so lost in the joy of simple things, such as blowing bubbles and being free from the busyness as we grow older. Don’t forget your inner child! BTW - she wouldn’t stop playing with the bubbles even after we were done. Ha.
8. “NOW THAT’S WHAT’S UP”
All I got to say is if you’re a bboy, like my friend Ed, this photo symbolizes a lot of what bboying is about - confidence, swagger, individuality, and style. Again, the lines and angle in the photo really make it more dynamic. I also like the texture created by the ground and his orange shirt really makes him pop as in contrasts well to the background. Ed definitely represents himself in this photo in his pose, and what I think is pretty cool is you can feel him communicating to you in this photo with his posture and facial expression. It’s really subtle, and not many people can do that.
9. “BANGAH”
So pretty much I think every photo is sick. Haha. Sorry, I am, afterall, a little biased. But damn, Henric looks like a Bangah don’t you think? I told him to come dress thuggish and I wanted to go to a place that could add to the overall feel of the “bangah” look. He’s really not a bangah though - more like a teddy bear - BUT, he looks pretty hard core here anyway. Ha. So we went to an industrial site and him posing in an alley way really fit his wardrobe well. The light was awesome that day and it fully illuminates the lines of the buildings and the texture of the ground as well as creating some interesting shadows. And the trademark, bangah fist is up. Such a cool photo.
10. “NO STRIKIN’ OUT”
Ahh, I love incorporating messages into photos and I’m glad I could do that with Jason’s.
Romans 5:3-5
Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.
Life isn’t always going to be easy and it is through the hard times we grow by building our perseverance. And What I love about this photo the most is that the scripture is written on the bat and Jason - who has a determined look in his face - is about to swing a way. With the mindset of perservering and creating character and hope, there IS NO striking out because we are not powered by ourselves, but by our FAITH. The overcast didn’t create the best background, but I mut say that Jason’s facial expression, posture, and stance really brings a visual life to Romans 5:3-5. And I think, this is photo has the most emotion to of the bunch.
‘Til next time!
